WEEK 2

SECOND DRAFT MODEL WITH DRAFT STAIRS - 2 IMAGES

CRYSTAL and HIVE

The first set of stairs has steps that are in the formation of a crystal. I decided to add spirals around the triangular handrails as it would soften the sharp overall appearance of it. The second one has beehive designs, matching it to the top floor. I decided to swap the two stairs and have the beehive appearing staircase at the bottom (where the word was crystal) and the crystal appearing staircase at the top (where the word was beehive) so that the two floors would fuse more easily in the one building.

HIVE and CRYSTAL

I incorporated the a beehive structure for the upper workshop as the work by Louis Beorgouise that I chose resembles a type of hive. Issey Miyake's work resembles a type of crystal-like structure through its repetitive structures that show crystal growth at different stages. I used this idea of crystals and created mystical crystal balls.

FIRST DRAFT MODEL - 2 IMAGES

SLIDE and CORRUGATED

Louis Beorgouise's work has string-like structures that are sliding against each other. This design shows these triangular structures that slide into place. Issey Miyake's work has corrugated material that protrude out. This corrugated texture and protrusion is shown through the sketch and model.

An image of a great piece of architecture: The house is complex in structure but is also simplistic through its lack of colour.

 An original photograph of something beautiful: This image was taken during my trip in Japan and it shows the nurturing nature of these monkeys as they pulled the ticks from the fur.

Your best piece of creative work: I always thought of how majestic tigers were and I found a very beautiful photograph of a tiger and decided to draw this.
